New Website is LIVE!

We just launched the brand new ‘Armor Games’ website. The new servers are currently being propagated so it could be several hours before you can access it. In the meantime, be sure to check our Mega64’s newest video as they highlight some of the new features of the website.

They’re Here.

Balls 3

Ever wonder what 1,000 Ball Revamped balls look like?

As part of the redesign of Armor Games, we will soon be selling some merchandise. Our first shipment of Ball Revamped balls have finally come, and it is really a thrill for me. I never would have thought a project started in my High School Senior Year would take off enough to get a toy.

The balls came in four large boxes, each bursting as though they were going to explode. Luckily every ball was accounted for. After cracking them open, we threw them around the office until we finally realized we had to get some work done today.

These are 3.5″ squishy balls, that are full-color and style to the Ball Revamped ball. Once our online store opens, we’ll be selling these and a few other products for you to keep. But until then, I’ll probably find a large ball pit and dive in!

Productivity and Monitors

Three Monitors

I haven’t really worked at an office to do Flash before Armor Games. In fact, I used to sit in my pajamas and program in a tiny apartment bedroom into the wee hours of the night. So now that I have an actual office space and a desk that doesn’t fall apart, I decided to start playing around with my desk and computer a bit.

I used to work on one 19″ monitor at my apartment, which was pretty good. Most developers in 2004 were lucky to have anything larger then a 17″ monitor, let alone an LCD monitor. About two years later, I got a second 19″ monitor to increase my productivity a bit. I could have Photoshop open in one window, and Flash in the other, which meant that nothing ever had to be closed or reduced. That was pretty good, until I got to Armor Games and started working on a 27″ single monitor. The big single monitor is nice because you don’t get that crease down the middle of the dual monitors. However, this meant that my cute little 19″ monitors sat at home in the garage, wondering when they would ever see the light of day again.

Today I decided to bring them in, and hook them up along with the 27″ monitor. When they are all plugged in, my desktop is roughly 4480 x 1024 pixels. And man, do I feel productive! My email, IM’s, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash can all be open at once, and I don’t have to go searching for windows.   It’s really helping me get this Mr Walters Grand Excursion game done too.  The levels are absolutely massive, and to pan around all over the place is a hassle, especially when I am trying to draw shapes bigger than the screen.  I’m hoping it will help me finish up (should be done by Tuesday!).

I am not sure how long this will last, because I feel like I am getting a tan here with all these monitors, but it’s a lot of fun for the meantime.

Indestructastic!

This month is all about the IndestructoTank theme.

I have, coming very soon, a game set in the Indestructotank universe which involves shooting planes from an Indestructable Helicopter - the name? IndestructoCopter!

I’ve done my best to give it a graphical style that really makes you feel like you’re stuggling to aim through turbulance, and it’s going to inlude everything people always love - A Combo System, Medals, and Upgrades!

Should be fun and I hope its going to be well recieved by the Action/Defence genre junkies.

Next on the agenda is another Indestructotank game :D

The idea was originally to make it some sort of midpoint between the first two games, with awesome graphics, medals and elements of both, but I’ve just recently been suggesteda few things by Dan which will make this edition EPIC.

Hope you’ve got your seatbelts fastened.

-Tony
