Reflections on the New and Old

With the launch of the new site; there is a sense of wonder, delight and accomplishment; but there is also a mourning and sense of sadness for the site I ran for the last couple of years. It’s been tough to let the old site go; knowing that it was stable and established.

Here are some of my favorite and least favorite things about the old site.

Favorite:
*Long list of games on the homepage
*Cheesy graphics that represented the Medieval theme of the site
*Having to update the site manually through dreamweaver so I could learn HTML

Least Favorite:
*The run-on list of games on the homepage
*80′s design to the layout and images
*having to update the site manually

As you can see, it was an off/on relationship. Lastly, to compare the New and the Old, I printed out both home pages and hung them side by side. See any differences?? :D

  1. The new design is nice and clean ^_^
The old one was pretty good too, but the really long list of games at the bottom was totally not needed :P

  2. @TidusBlade

    Thanks for the compliments! :D

Have you signed up for an account on the new ArmorGames site? If so, add me as a friend.

  3. It looks so pretty now! One of the first things they taught us in class about making a website was to make it ‘above the fold’, I think the new site does it a lot better ;-)

But it is true… I will also miss the cheesy Medieval theme.

  4. And on a side note, you still need to make a link on the new site to this. I have to Google to get here every time. Of course I could just remember the link, but that would be too easy! ^_^

  5. Thanks for the feedback Carlie. :D

I see you are one of the highest ranking members on the new site. Congratulations!

  6. I like the new one,but you can add the link to your blog.can you received my e-mail? Please reply me.Thans!

  7. Hey, how do you add favorites? I’m kindof lazy, and I didn’t see a Add as Favorite button on the game’s page.

Also, it’s very Kongregate-ish, especially with the ArmorPoints. But that’s a good thing, I geuss.

  8. First off, Neoplayer2, I had the same problem with adding games to my favourites. Then I realised doh! The button is up there with the “facebook” and “email this” buttons, not down with the game ranking and comments. Its a heart with a green plus sign. Anyway…

Really nice new site. The printout of the old site just made me laugh :) I dont miss the cheesey old medieval graphics, but I do understand how it could have become sentimental to you. Now, if there were to come some cool new and better medieval graphics as a backdrop for the site, I would not complain. :)

I love it that games are much easier to find on the new site, and that everything has a much neater look to it. The points system also makes me feel that Im doing something contructive and important, hehe.

  9. OMG!! I think I see a LightSprites magnet up there!!!! w00t!

That reminds, I have 3 new magnet designs I should send your way. :)

  10. Re: HeroInteractive

Your magnet is ‘Lighting’ the way for the new site to shine above and beyond what the old site was.

  11. Hey Daniel, I just noticed you updated your design. Nice update, very clean.

I lost the links but it was a good update.

    Cheers.
