Tournament Updates:
May 12 – Winners Announced!
May 6 – Update #2

=====================
You think you are good at Compulse? Well we want to see just how good you are in the official Obsessive Compulse Tournament! Play through each level of the new tournament edition game. The players with the best score will win some awesome prizes!
Play the NEW 30 level set released today (it’s really, really hard) and try to get the lowest score possible.
Compulse is a game where you drop directional tiles on the screen to direct a ball through the level. As you advance through the game the levels get trickier and it becomes a game of using the least amount of tiles to get through each level. With the release of the Obsessive Compulse Tournament Pack, there are 30 new levels to enjoy and we’re going to give away prizes to those who are the swiftest and the strongest.
The tournament begins NOW and rolls through May 7th at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time!

HOW TO ENTER
1) Go play through the entire Obsessive Compulse Tournament Pack. Make sure you beat every level.
2) Go to the main menu and click “Generate Code.” Click the text box and hit CTRL-A to select all the text, and then CTRL-C to copy it.
3) Paste the text and your Armor Games user name into an email and send to john@armorgames.com by May 7th at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time. DO NOT PASTE IT INTO THIS BLOG POST.
PROTIP: You can enter as many times as you want but your best score will be the only score that counts. Please indicate if you are updating a score in your follow-up email. Please do not email me every day.
So there are some cool things we’ll be giving away, but of course you got to follow the rules:
—————–
Official Rules
-
You must play using the “Obsessive Compulse” game found on armorgames.com, unmodified and in it’s current working condition.
-
Your score will be posted to the Armor Blog (armorblog.com) a few days after the contest is over, so that you can see how you did.
-
Any indication of cheating will be detected. Don’t do it. We have ways of finding out. We reserve the right to take away a prize in the case that cheating has a occurred (ask us if you are unsure what cheating is). We can verify your level designs via your code!
-
The player with the lowest score with all levels completed will be the winner. In the case of a tie between multiple players the player who submitted their final best score first will be considered the winner.
-
We will test your levels to ensure that they are actually legitimate.
-
If you are outside the United States we will send you the cash equivalent.
-
When copying your code make sure you select all and copy the entire code. If we do not receive an entire code we will email you back asking for one. A complete code is necessary to be officially entered (you can tell it’s the whole code because it begins with “<BEGIN CODE>” and ends with “<END CODE>”. Do not send us the codes generated on individual levels… send us the codes generated on the main menu screen!
- If there is an issue with the game file we may update it. Be aware that changes to the game file will be logged here. These changes will most likely not effect your current progress.
- If you have any questions feel free to ask in this thread or email me at John@armorgames.com!

So like I said, contest ends May 7th at 11:59 PM PST. Go at it!

este juego es genial, voy a hacer mi mejor esfuerzo
I have gone as low as score 63. Which is 105 under par, 34 under pro. There are not much points left to go lower. Perhaps one or two more..
“I dont know if I believe some of these people saying they have done it like 30 under pro.”
I think 30 under pro’s actually possible, only really really hard. You never know, 30 under pro’s only 67, and some people have already got 70.
If you don’t believe it you’ll have to wait till may 7 to see it. I’ve done 63 and I don’t think it’s a winer score yet.
(promised he wouldn’t spam this thread anymore, but…)
Hehe.
Has anyone gotten 1 tile on level 6?
63!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT!
thats pretty amazing right there
I’ve froze almost… I just hit 71 today and really can’t figure out anymore.. and obviously that isn’t good enough..
Holy Crap!!!!! I got level 30 in two tiles.
I think 63 is a lie, personally. to get 63 would require you to solve every level with no more than two tiles, all except 3 other ones. I can find six levels possible in one tile, and can see two others that *might* be doable with one, but i can’t yet make work, (my current score is 70). This means you have, at best, 8 levels got rid of with one tile. That leaves you with 22 levels to do, and 55 tiles to do it. That means you must do all levels in two tiles, except for 6. Thus, you are claiming to be able to solve at least 16 levels in just two tiles…
This seems somewhat far-fetched – some of the higher levels require at least three tiles to solve! I shall await may 9th with interest.
On a side note, has anyone yet managed to solve level 9 with just one tile? It looks like it could be done, but i cannae make it work!
It takes much cunning to get 63. However as Strop perhaps already indicated, 63 is not ULTIMATE.
For ULTIMATE one must do better.
2 people have 63!? No wai!
ok, i can see that 69 isn’t going to cut it,
so back to the drawing board
71 under par at pro score|97
98%completed
how the hell do you beat level 25!!!
Do not DESPAIR. I submitted some scores in the 70′s, I thought they were competitive at the time.
Here is a screen shot of level 11 to inspire you.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/7756/level11pt0.gif
hahahaha.
How many right arrows did you even use!?
To reproduce the screen shot, just place one tile, copy the code and then press paste in the load window a few times,.. like 60-70 times.
Getting 63:
My list currently has 8 levels in one tile, and 7 which are done in two tiles, but are, by my standards, impossible to beat, ie they start off lower than a goal or a switch, etc.
That leaves 41 tiles to do the other half of the game. This pretty much means getting a 2 for 4 levels, and 3 for 11 of them.
Only problem is, I think there’s a few needed to be done in 4. Or at least 1. (Levels 14 and 22) If that’s so, then it would be 2 levels with 4, 7 in 3, and 6 in 2. That’s plausible in my opinion…
Lulz we seriously should have an IRC channel
http://www.globalgamers.net/pjirc/chat.php?nick=Someone&chan=Compulse
(This doesn’t count as spamming, does it?
)
Ya, you have the solution outline. Although as I alluded to above, 63 is not ULTIMATE.
Wait, I posted before I realised somebody had gotten 63. I don’t have 63…yet.
I was debating whether to pursue a 63 because I felt it was most likely possible, but was too busy to search though the levels systematically. However, seeing as I do want that iPod (I don’t care about the gift-card or first place), I’m going to have to knock off another ruddy tile or two.
Seeing as we’re getting into more detail, I can say that I have 8 levels completed with a single tile, but I hope to make that 9 (I’m not sure whether this is possible for L26…if you’ve done it, please say so!!!) I agree with Sp3000 that L14 and L22 require 4 tiles to complete, but also know that these are the *only* levels that may require 4 tiles to beat.
If I can’t get L26 in one tile, then I may have to see what the heck Zd5 did to get L30 in two tiles (assuming this is possible). That has me stumped.
In short, assuming that 2 levels need 4 tiles, this appears to leave either 8×1, 13×2, 7×3 or 9×1, 12×2, 8×3. Imagine if 9×1, 12×2, 7×3 were possible!
This torunament is cool but would be beeter for a more multiplayer game.
LVL 30 total used: 3.
I won’t spoil the game, just a lil’bit: you need 1 red and two blue.
Mighty generous of you, OlikA. Of course, some claim that it can be done in 2.
in case you haven’t noticed, your not the first to do this,
but whatev,
don;t give out info on level design
I do level 30 in zero tiles by tilting my monitor onto its side.
I did 30 in one tile by glicthing…nah j/k.
I don’t get 30 in 2 lulz
ok how do you beat the end lvl
with great skill, have just finished the game with 96% only 3 non pro, 2 under pro par…
time to email John
Hello, I want to join this tournament please.
then do so, just look at rules etc and play the game!
7 under pro now, all lvls completed r pro, what about everyone else?
I’m now in the same position Strop was on the 28th last month. Wish I knew about the competition earlier, not sure whether to chase 63, seems nigh on impossible to me.
Just don’t use my codes to keep the prize for yourselves!!!
ahahahahaah Just kidding
guys
I am now 10 under pro and not even finished yet =O
so look out
When the contest is over. Ill put my run on Youtube, Its quite impressive Id say, (below 70)
hmm, i got to 12 under par..im happy with that.
soz bout the inbox spam john (i think about 3 in one day)
lol im screwed if ppl have that many under par…im not THAT good at the game…or i dont cheat…hmm
Lolz I need to start making screenies
lets rock thi game
I made it total less than 70! I’m wonder how many other people has less, than 70.
Bdw thanx U Strop, for showing me on witch levels should I work on
wtf. Here i spent hours and hours to get 80 and thought I was skilled. U guys are crazy!
Good luck all! Gotta love the homestretch!
I am kinda thinking the level 30 in 2 tiles is fake, but if it’s not, I’d really like to see how it’s done (after the tournament is over of course).
Thanks for a great game, and all your effort John.
Lvl 30 in 2 tiles is not possible to my knowledge. I’d be very surprised if someone could do such a thing.
Hey Sogtulakk, did you ever beat 63?
i cant get level 20 in under 4
hi to all!!
Count me in the less than 70 club
Hm…30 in 2. Hey, I don’t think it’s possible either lols, but I never though 28 in 2 was too…
