Office Spider

Know what kind of spider this is?  It’s about 1.5 inches in diameter and was found today at the Armor Games Office in California!  We’ll name it after you if you can ID it.

Otherwise we’re naming it Frank.  Please help him/her/it.

  9. Destor on March 7th, 2009

    I’d say a Sydney funnel-web spider.

If I’m right, you can call it Destor. I’m probably wrong though. Well, good luck with it.

If you really really want to know, look in the phone book for something that starts with “arachna” and you can get a professional’s opinion.

Tell me if I was right at my AG account,

Umm, Destor, you are completely wrong. For one thing, this wolf spider is grey, the Sydney Funnel Web is black. It is also much bigger than the wolf spider, and it lives in Australia.

“Jacob the Common Wolf Spider” Kind of reminds you of Twilight, eh?

  31. Tesh on March 9th, 2009

I shall dub it “greasy smear”. Evocative, and descriptive to boot.

…wait, it’s still ambulatory? Well, that’s easily rectified.

  32. iambyu on March 9th, 2009

that is a wolf spider on the carpet

I also believe that you should name it Austin Collie

    GO BYU!!!

  33. Ulimitedpower on March 9th, 2009

Supposing as that the spider is so big, and knowing that Wolf Spiders have big eyes to see very well, I must agree with the others.

But I have another idea: It may be a hunter spider, which are very similar to wolf spiders but generally get bigger. Wolf Spiders are those tiny things where three could fit on your little pinkie while hunters grow bigger. Not sure though…

  34. Arthur on March 9th, 2009

mmm the wolf spider is dangerous if it is I recoment you before he harm someone

  35. Dragonfly on March 9th, 2009

Definitely wolf spider - still cute if not painful

  36. TharosTheDragon on March 10th, 2009

I get those guys around my house all the time. They’re hunting spiders, so they don’t build webs. Instead they just hide somewhere and wait to jump out at their prey. You might find them lying around a fold in a piece of clothing, and when they’re curled up you might mistake them for a tuft of hair or a clump of fabric.

  37. DaRkEsTSoUl on March 10th, 2009

    Its a TURTLE!

  38. Noah Buddy on March 10th, 2009

A wolf spider has more than one pair of eyes. As far as I can see that spider only has 1 pair. So, it can’t be a wolf spider…
