Shift-4 & Shift on the iPhone/iPod Touch Coming May 19th

Remember that game I said I’d be releasing before Christmas? That small side project that you guys won’t have heard much about. Well it’s nearly done, and here is a trailer of sorts. I’ve included the title at the start, in case it’s a bit too obscure for you to remember.

Coming to a Computer Screen near you on May 19th!! Mark your Calendars.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL!

Because released at pretty much the same time for all you gadget junkies - SHIFT for iPhone/iPod Touch!
A rather brilliant remake of Shift 1 with tonnes (and I mean tonnes) of extra levels.
A free version will be available for you to give it a try, and it’s not one of those crummy free versions that last 2 seconds, either, it’s rather substantial (about the length of the original game itself!).

Here are some screenies!

So, what do you guys think?

Check the App-Store on May 19th to get your FREE copy of Shift on your iPhone/iPod touch.

Captain Tony, signing off.

Are you ready to JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE MIND?

Do you have enough Slaughtering of Robots in your diet?

How about Aliens? Badass Lizard Bikers? Zombies!? Ok, you’ve probably killed a fair few zombies recently if I know you guys, but Lizard Bikers? THAT’S EXTREME!
Also I hear there’s Ninja in there somewhere as well, but they move so fast I must have missed them, since I lack lightning reflexes. You may have better luck, however.

So why am I bringing up this supposed lack of action on your part? Well I’ve been hard at work the past couple of months on a game designed by a rather awesome individual, who goes by the name of Chandler.

Chandler had drawn up a design document for a rather amazing game. You can customise your character, buy weapon upgrades, compete in Dancing competitions with Master Ninja Grovers, blast through roadblocks on a motorcycle and explode a whole load of crazy stuff!

The game is known as JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE MIND. And here’s some screenshots of this upcoming blastathon.

The fantastic realisations of Chandlers sketches were by Michael Swain, the MASTERMIND behind the Blockhead series of cartoons and a game about conquering the world who’s name I can’t recall at the moment.

“But when can I expect to see it!?” I hear you cry…well hold on, you’ll have to wait, A WHOLE 5 MINUTES! ‘Cause this games going up right now! (6th of May 2009 for you future readers, with your fancy flying cars and world peace.)

So, I hope you enjoy and have fun!

Tony.

Mini update!

Thanks for all the nice comments/messages, the wedding went very smoothly indeed after a few little bumps the day before :p

I’ve now got  a Mrs Tony, and had a very nice day, thanks all!

Also, one of my friends thought it would be funny and/or clever to get me Ninja Throwing Knives as a present. It wasn’t. It was just plain awesome.

Now I can dispense justice Ninja style…

Ding Dong the bells are gonna Chiiiime!

I’m writing to you all from a hotel room in Wales, which, as you keen Geographaticians will know, is in the sunny old United Kingdom. It’s 2.38 AM and I’m about to get into bed, it’s quite late I know, especially since I have an early start tomorrow. Becaaause…

I’m getting married in the morning!

Alot of you will have spoken to or commented on the profile of Morbid Giggle on Armor, who has been my Fiancee officially for a little over a year, and tomorrow we’ll be tying the knot ready for a life of Love, Hugs and Computer Games. Afterwards we’ll be jetting off to St Lucia (after a short weekend in London) courtesy of the best free online games site in the world.  Dan, The Armor Games’ head honcho, as I’m sure you know, surprised me with a big chunk of money for what looks to be a dream honeymoon in St Lucia, which is far more than we were expecting to stretch to, and once again proving that this is the best job in the world.

So, I’ll be back in a weekish with my new wife, the best girl I’ve ever known, and also the best at sifting through Shift Level submissions to find the great ones :p

P.S.Work on Shift 4 is progressing very nicely, get ready for some twisty fun very soon :D

P.P.S. During my bachelor party my friends decided to ambush me with plastic wrap and duct tape me to a parking meter before shooting me with a waterpistol in the middle of February. Who needs enemies, eh?

FISTICUFFS!

Coming very soon, a collaboration between myself and Dim SuperFlashBros, Drastic Plastic is a fun game where you get to PUNCH stuff! Sometimes other robots! In fact Mostly other robots!

Above is the awesometastic splash screen drawn up by Dim for our isometric Robot Slugathon with a hint of Rockem Sockem goodness :D.

So, long time no update, eh? Well here’s a few bits and pieces for you. I’m pleased with how Tentadrill turned out, did you guys enjoy it? Along side Drastic Plastic, I’ve got SHIFT 4 in development stages, me and my regular artist Chris are making headway into that, hopefully for pre Christmas release (fingers crossed!). He’s working on the game’s intro cinematic - that’s right, this one is going to have an intricate plot full of twists and intrigue that will rival Dickens in grandeur and scope… Just kidding, this is SHIFT we’re talking about! While it does have a nice little plot running through it, SHIFTs always been about the gameplay, and the evolution of it between each installment, and I’m so glad you’ve mostly supported the ride and changes it’s taken on board. You guys are the real heroes of the SHIFT tale…

I’ll try to start making more regular updates this Month, yesterday I got an email from Dan about a super duper secret development that I think will be very exciting in the coming year :D.

You sure are looking Shifty…

You guys hankering for some more SHIFT action?

Well first, let me get a few other discussion points out in the open as well…

First, what the heck happened to The Greater Good? Didn’t I say it was almost done? Didn’t I release a level editor? Where did it go!?
Well as it turns out, the game has been compeltely overhauled. The gameplay remains the same, the levels still all work form the editor, but it’s now no longer based on sacrificing cult members.
Stifle your groans, minions! I’m not here to dissapoint. Whats more fun than killing faceless cult members? You guessed it - killing cute little animals with big round eyes and loveable appearances.
How loveable you say? Well the artwork for them is being supplied by Mr Michael Swain, who you may know from such smash hits as the Mastermind series and the blockhead series.
So expect big things in the next few days.

Aww how cute...how disposable.

Second Tidbit is another, smaller game I’m working on with Dim of the Super Flash Bros, a side crolling shooter based underwater. The style of the graphics is super snazzy, and sadly this game had been pushed backcause of the revamping of the greater good for the IGF, so poor
Dim has done a tonne of the artwork for it, but while I have the engine running smoothly, it will take a bit more time before completion. But keep your eyes peeled, this ones going to be lots of fun.

TentaDrill!

Third on the agenda is my return to my favourite game series, SHIFT. Shift 4 is going to be another step forward for the SHIFT series. I’ve tried to build on each one in succession to add more depth to gameplay for you crazy cats, and this one will be no different.

The idea I’ve been toying with is an experimental multi character approach. DId anyone ever play that one game Scoregamites? During the making of it I had tonnes of ideas for a more enclosed game like shift using a similar concept, but without the repitition represented by scoregamites.
I’ll also be incorperating tonnes of Armor games members levels into this version, which is always fun.
And here, for your viewing pleasure, is a neat little promotional poster mocked up by Chris Ignatov, with the clever little logo by Matte Bell. I have big things in store for you Armor peeps.

Are you willing to give your life for the cause, son?

Here’s a preview teaser trailer for my very very very soon to be released game; “The Greater Good”.

I’ll be announcing the prize winners also very soon, and the levels I’ve got for this game so far are pretty sweet - even Dan and John got their hands dirty with the editor to make some levels.  Who’s the boss now, huh?

Anyway, here’s the vid.

Want to design a level for me and win $$$? (Update)

UPDATE 2: The deadline has passed, and I’m going to have some fun going though checking out the best levels. Thanks for he great response, guys! :D

UPDATE: Version B2 is now Out, if you want to keep your saves from B1, make sure this new file is in the same folder as the old file. This version fixes the crashing problem discovered by Wurmy - thanks Wurmy! as well as allowing you to restart a preview without going to the editor.

Well well well, long time no speak, Armorblog readers! It’s me - remember me? Yeah I’m that guy who made that Shift game and that one with the tank that blows up when it runs out of fuel - magico tank I think it was called or something. Well anyway, you know how I love making level editors and then having people play with them? Well it’s that time again! Included in this post is the Level editor for my next original puzzle platformer - which I’ve named “The Greater Good”. And I’m after you’re levels!

“What’s in it for me?” I hear you cry, well as well as a credit in the final game due out the end of this month, I’m offering cash prizes (payed via paypal) for my top 5 favourite fan submitted level from my own hard earned Armor cash as well as Armor Games stickers for everyone who get’s a level featured in the final game!

Here’s a rundown of the prizes

$100 + Stickers for my favourite level
$50 + Stickers for my second favourite level
$25 + Stickers for third
$25 + Stickers for fourth

SK ripped to SHREDS.

I can’t believe he called me down on not capitalising ONE letter ‘i’.

To be honest, I found this to be amazing, it’s nice to hear someone critisize you for somethign you did years ago and reflect on how much you’ve improved (debatable?).

Warning: Some bad language if you’re sensitive :p

Kudos to Mr Reviewer, whoever you are :D

And also, this is his only video, but his youtube name is Armor Games Reviewer, so who knows who is next!?
