Indestructastic!

This month is all about the IndestructoTank theme.

I have, coming very soon, a game set in the Indestructotank universe which involves shooting planes from an Indestructable Helicopter - the name? IndestructoCopter!

I’ve done my best to give it a graphical style that really makes you feel like you’re stuggling to aim through turbulance, and it’s going to inlude everything people always love - A Combo System, Medals, and Upgrades!

Should be fun and I hope its going to be well recieved by the Action/Defence genre junkies.

Next on the agenda is another Indestructotank game :D

The idea was originally to make it some sort of midpoint between the first two games, with awesome graphics, medals and elements of both, but I’ve just recently been suggesteda few things by Dan which will make this edition EPIC.

Hope you’ve got your seatbelts fastened.

Juggling Games

And before you get yourselves excited, unfortunately, I’m not talking about a game where you have to Juggle stuff :p

This past week I’ve been working simultaneously on 4 games, it’s exhilarating. For most of the Time, I’ve been working on Dans latest request, Armor Academy, which I feel has turned out great. As well as that I’ve been preparing the Cattlepult players pack (which has some major changes and improvements over the first) and as well as those I’ve created an awesome Christmas Platform game engine which will feel incredibly familiar to anyone who has played Super Mario Bros 1 for the Nes. I’ve even programmed it in a way similar to how those Genius programmers of the late 80’s squeezed the power out of the Nes, by building levels in dynamic scrolling tiles. I’m incredibly excited about this one and can see it being a major hit with the flash community.

There will be another blog post soon with how they’ve done.

Cattlepult nearing completion - and Mind Bender: WOW

Cattleult will be done in the next few days by my reconing, which will be nice, as it leaves me the second alf of this month to do another game. I’ll email the final version of the editor along with some premade levels for you guys to play to Dan tonight, its really turned into a Bloons with far more depth, and you can get some really awesome puzzles in its 15 by 15 grid, so I hope people  have fun with it.
Also, when playing wit Portal: The Flash version, having played a pre release version of the real Portal, it didnt hit me with the wow factor that it seemed to hit everyone else with, it was still excellent, but it was still in the mould of a much larger experience. Luka’s Mind Bender, however, hit me with that wow factor. It was incredible. Although Jumping was kind of hyper sensitive, I feel this added to it - it became skill based as well as puzzle based. It was an awesome experience.

Born to Edit

The game I’m working on at the moment is a game concept of Daniels, involving a Bull being catapulted around a china shop, smashing dishes/otherthings. Its going really quite well, today I’ll be working on the Level editor, and it just felt right. A while back I made a game for Newgrounds called Expgen, which allowed the player to make their ownplatform game levels. My lack of skill at the time shows through slightly, by the way I perform simple tasks with a sledgehammer, but I’m still quite proud that I managed such a complex level editor in such a stable, almost bug free way. It made me feel good. I’m getting the same feeling right now with this editor - as my first proper AS3 project, I know I’ll be making some major errors with the way things are done, but in the end I’ll have it working. For people to be able to expand on the original content of the games I release is an amazing feeling. Level editors just add so much to a game for me, I hope the players feel the same. It also means I can share level design duties with other people, to speed up the production process.

Fun times :D

Also, I’m hoping to call the game CattlePult - as you may have noticed, I love cheesy game names :)

Indestruc2Tank

Was released on NG on 31st October - But failed to snatch the Daily Prize from the halloween entries - rats!

However, it did score a whopping 4.29 (as of last time i checked) an Daily 2nd (same is IndestructoTank) which I consider a great success. In celebration, I’ll be heading over to the local Go-Kart Circuit by myself and Imagining I’m with the guys from the office as I trundle around the laps all by my lonesome… sniff.. :p

Oh, and I’ve just noticed it’s been NG frontpaged - how pleasent :)
