Grimoire’s Greatest Mystery

Detective Grimoire

Many years ago, an explorer enters a mysterious swamp. In the distance he notices a strange creature lurking in the murky waters. He makes sketches in his journal, and leaves the swamp in peace, never to return.

60 years later, and the swamp creature – still unknown to science – is now best known a famous cartoon character. That same swamp is home to a bizarre tourist attraction. Why would anyone come here in their free time….?

Work on the new Detective Grimoire is going strong! You can sign up to be first to know when the game is released:

We have a cast of over 10 characters, fully animated and voiced. Not all of them are suspects!

We’ve been working on the conversation system, too. The heart of the game is the characters, after all. Each suspect will have a selection of topics to choose from, as well as the option to present any clue or suspect profile for discussion. Oh, and a mysterious locked option! What could it be…..?

We also have beautiful background art from Catherine Unger, a new member to the team! I’m really loving the look of the scenery, so far. I would visit this swamp!

Well, thats all for now. I’ve been staying with Tom for the last two weeks and we’ve been working solidly in our little “Super Flash Studio” (his living room). Don’t forget to check out the Grimoire Blog for a couple more bits and pieces.

Leave a comment letting us know what you think! :)

K.O.L.M. in a minute!

Or, it’s actual title, K.O.L.M.I.A.M. will be launching tommorrow on Armor Games.
What is it? Well imagine if K.O.L.M. was short enough to play in less than a minute, it’s like that.
Confused? Yeah I guess it’s confusing when you try and explain it in writing, but the jist of it is lots of levels that can all be completed in less than one minute, and belive me things start getting pretty challenging. Here’s a screenshot to help you visualise.

kolmscreen

See, this one is a little self contained level that can be completed very easily, but the levels become large multi room mazes, so you’ve really got to stay on your toes.
The best way to understand this is to wait until tommorrow to play (or if you’re reading this any time after that, just visit Armor Games to play!

Or, if you’re one of the few who still haven’t played the original, you can play it right here, right now!

Play K.O.L.M. at Armor Games

Hope you’re all having a great 2011 so far,

Tony

Artist Needed

2011-01-14_1258

Hey Armor Blog readers!

I’m about to start a new project in the coming weeks and I’m in dire need of a talented artist.

The project will be an action/strategy game with a medieval/middle ages style within a slightly isometric view.

Ideally we’d like someone that’s good with Flash art and animation and/or someone that’s good with sprite sheet animation. This person would also need to be fast and work within a schedule.

The project will require 30+ hours a week for about 2 months. Our budget for the project is $7,000.

So if you’re a talented artist and would love to work on an Armor Games project, please send your portfolios to to MedievalGame@ArmorGames.com.

Detective Grimoire Returns

In early 2007, The Super Flash Bros (Tom and myself) could be found working night and day on a Flash game that would become their most popular offering to the Internet since the Decline of Video Gaming. It was a simple detective story – a murder mystery, known as Detective Grimoire.

4 years later…..Detective Grimoire leaves his office for a brand new story – a new mystery and, most likely, a new murder.

This game has a new location, all brand new characters (apart from a handful of returning faces) and new gameplay features. It includes more detailed animation, voice acting and a second artist working exclusively on beautiful background art.

Tom and I are in the thick of development right now, working on every single element of the game at once! There is a lot of work to do, but the end result will be something truly special!

I have an Official Development Blog where I regularly post images and updates, but from now on I’ll be doing the same here at the Armor Blog, so the choice is yours :)

I put together some images for your enjoyment, and there are more to check out over at the Grimoire Blog, if you’ve a spare moment.
More information soon!

Sierra 7 – a revolutionary new flash First Person Shooter

Sierra 7

Developed by Simon Hason & Cody Hamway

About this Game ( Sierra 7 ):
Summary

Sierra 7 is a tactical shooting game with emphasis on realistic counter-terrorism game play. This is an on rails first person shooter. The avatar automatically moves through the world and the user focuses on aiming and shooting. There are a variety of missions, guns and badges for the users to unlock. With a bit of market research we have found that this is one of, if not the most immense, realistic and detailed flash first person shooter on the web.

Technical
The programming in this game is very unique to flash shooters. Every gun responds differently, enemies are placed randomly making each play through unique with a smart and challenging AI script, and all the unlocks / progress is saved data so the user can come back and continue later.

Aesthetic

Very little in this game has been drawn in flash. The worlds and weapons are all 3D models made by Cody Hamway and have been manipulated in to flash  flawlessly.

Game play

The users start off with simple guns and a training map and must work their way through to unlock more weapons and missions. There is a badge system as well for users to unlock with tasks such as headshots, suppressed weapon kills, pistol kills ect. There are game play varieties to spice things up such as defusing bombs, hostage rescue and sniping. Users can track their stats in-game and everything saves in their cache so they can pick up where they left off.

This game will be available

January 5, 2011.
